  • How many times should I train with a PT
How regularly depends a lot on the individual. If you know you will be good at doing your 'homework' between our session once a week works well for keeping people in check. If you know you won't exercise on your own you should come and train 2 or 3 times a week (but I'll still get you doing bits on your own!) Less than once a week is beneficial if you're disciplined and not needing as much accountability. Some people are very motivated and disciplined and just need a few sessions to know they are doing the right thing for their health and fitness goals, and then they carry on, on their own, happy they are heading in the right direction.
  • Do I need to have a level of fitness before I start?
Absolutely not! Let me help you get started. You may have never exercised before, and thet's no problem, I'm glad you are ready to make the change.
  • Will you write me a strict diet plan for fast results?
No. I used to do diet plans for clients, but people found them hard to stick to. I have found it's much more successful, in the long run, to follow a few key rules and use a few tools to help people stay consistent.
  • Can I just do weights with you, and do my own cardio?
This seems to be a popular way to do it. I think people are now more aware of the importance of strength training and feel they can get a lot into an hour of weight training with me. Other clients want to have a mixture of cardio and weights. I will recommend what I think is the best approach depending on what you have been doing between our sessions. Cyclists, runners, and gym class enthusiasts come for weight training too, which is great conditioning for their own training and gives them a more rounded fitness level.
  • Can I expect to lose lots of body fat?
Yes! There's absolutely no reason why not. The fact that you are considering a PT already suggests you have a certain amount of motivation. Fat loss is pretty simple really - exercise in the right way regularly, eat healthy and watch your bodyshape change. Stay disciplined between our sessions and you will be onto a winner.
  • My weekly schedule varies a lot. Can I still train with you?
Yes, sure. If we need to change our sessions from week to week, no problem.
  • If I need to cancel, how much notice should I give?
Please give me 24hrs notice (as it is likely someone else would like to use your slot). Otherwise full payment will be taken. This can also work in your favour. You know you are training on that day, with no 'ifs' or 'buts'.
  • Can I train with a friend/partner?
Yes of course, good idea. If you train at mine I don't have room for more that 2 of you, though. In the park or at your place, we can do any number. (It's £10 extra per person).
